Shark Attack (Atari 2600, 1982)

About this product

Product Information

The Pac-Man-like Shark Attack puts players in the role of a deep-sea diver swimming in a maze of kelp, gathering diamonds while avoiding a shark and occasionally Nessie, a spider-like rendition of the Loch Ness Monster. Players must deliver the diamonds to a cage located in the middle of the screen. Mystery caves located in each corner will put Nessie to sleep, and if the diver enters a cave, he will appear at random at one of the other cave entrances. Dodging the enemies is too easy and gathering diamonds is not as smoothly controlled (or as fun) as gobbling dots in Ms. Pac-Man. Uneven graphics and sounds further diminish Shark Attack's limited appeal.

  • Great game for its time, still fun now

A fun game from the early 80s, a variation of Pac-Man. You are a scuba diver finding treasure in the ocean. You are in shark infested waters, but you have a shark cage for protection. Timing is key as the Shark is predictable, but if you get too greedy, and don't get to the cage in time, you will be Shark food. If you like retro one screen games, you should really enjoy this. As per most Atari titles of the era, it has multiple variations.
